University of Mpumalanga (UMP) Application 2026 – How to Apply

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) application for admission will soon begin  . so if you are a high school leaver, and you are looking to gain admission into this Institution, then this article is for you.

The UMP application is expected to begin around June 2025, but the school has not yet confirmed that. This post will provide you with information like available courses, admission requirements, how to apply and also track your application when it eventually opens.

Admission Requirements

Diploma in ICT in Application Development

  • Duration: 3 years, 360 credits, NQF Level 6.
  • Curriculum: Covers communication networks, application development, multimedia, programming, and business practice. Year 3 includes Work Integrated Learning or electives.
  • Admission: APS 26, English Level 4, Mathematics Level 4.
  • Progression: Advanced Diploma in ICT.

Diploma in Agriculture in Plant Production

  1. Duration: 3 years, 360 credits, NQF Level 6.
  2. Curriculum: Focuses on crop production, farm management, and water management. Year 3 involves practical training on a commercial farm.
  3. Admission: APS 25 (Math) or 26 (Math Literacy), English Level 4, Agriculture Level 4.
  4. Progression: Advanced Diploma in Agriculture.

Diploma in Nature Conservation

  • Duration: 3 years, 360 credits, NQF Level 6.
  • Curriculum: Includes conservation ecology, environmental management, and resource management. Year 3 involves work-integrated learning.
  • Admission: APS 29 (Math) or 30 (Math Literacy), English Level 4, Life Sciences/Geography Level 4.
  • Progression: Advanced Diploma in Nature Conservation.

Bachelor of Agriculture in Agricultural Extension and Rural Resource Management

  • Duration: 3 years, 360 credits, NQF Level 7.
  • Curriculum: Combines crop/animal production with rural development and extension. Includes work-integrated learning.
  • Admission: APS 28 (Math) or 30 (Math Literacy), English Level 4, Mathematics Level 4.
  • Progression: Bachelor of Agriculture (Honours).

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture

  • Duration: 4 years, 480 credits, NQF Level 8.
  • Curriculum: Focuses on agricultural science, with electives in water management, environmental science, and agricultural extension.
  • Admission: APS 30 (Math) or 32 (Math Literacy), English Level 4, Mathematics Level 4.
  • Progression: Master’s in Agriculture or Science.

Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching

  • Duration: 4 years, 480 credits, NQF Level 7.
  • Curriculum: Focuses on teaching language, mathematics, and life skills for Grades 1-3. Includes practicum training.
  • Admission: APS 28 (Math) or 29 (Math Literacy), English Level 4, Second Language Level 4.
  • Progression: Bachelor of Education (Honours).

Diploma in Hospitality Management

  • Duration: 3 years, 360 credits, NQF Level 6.
  • Curriculum: Covers accommodation management, culinary studies, and hospitality operations. Includes work-integrated learning.
  • Admission: APS 26 (Math) or 27 (Math Literacy), English Level 4.
  • Progression: Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management.

Bachelor of Development Studies

  • Duration: 3 years, 360 credits, NQF Level 7.

  • Progression: Bachelor of Development Studies (Honours).

Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)

  • Duration: 3 years, 360 credits, NQF Level 7.

  • Admission: APS 32, English Level 4, Mathematics Level 4.
  • Progression: BCom (Honours).

How to Apply to UMP

UMP APPLICATION STEP BY STEP PROCESS

NB: Before you start with your application, ensure that you have electronic copies to upload (the accepted document types/format are: pdf,doc,docx,tiff,PNG,jpg, jpeg): 

certified copies of your identity document, Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate and all other relevant documents. 

proof of non-refundable application fee (RSA) R200, (SADC) 400 and International students other than SADC (R550)

 

  1. Click here to apply, accept the UMP application rules and click “continue”
  2.  Capture your biographical information and click “next” to proceed with your application;
  3. Capture results details then add subjects and click “next”;
  4. Capture educational institution detail and click “next”;
  5. Capture academic application details (choose 2 choices/programmes you wish to apply for), click on “add qualification” and thereafter click “next”;
  6. Verify/Check your application details then click “continue”;
  7.  Create your 5 digit PIN (e.g 24689), click “I accept”(twice) checkbox thereafter click “Submit Application”;
  8.  Upload your documents, select “yes” on the dropdown list if all your documents are ready to be uploaded and then click “next”;
  9.  Click “Load/View Document” >> “Upload document” >> “Choose/Browse file” go to the folder where your documents are stored, choose the relevant document and click “save”;
    Once all documents have been uploaded click “complete upload”;Step 11: Confirmation Page, end of application
     

Tracking your Application

  1. Go to the Student Portal
  2. Fill in the required details in the fields
  3. Follow the prompts
  4. You should be able to view your status then
